Welcome back my loves!! I had the opportunity to be part of Miami Swim Week 2018 as part of the Glamsquad Beauty Pros. It was such a meaningful experience to me and I wanted to share with you all not only about swimsuits and fashion but also as how we can change the way we perceive ourselves and this industry. Stay with me if you want to learn more about my experience!

Day 1 for me started on Friday 07/13. We were in the Green Room at W South Beach Hotel, and as soon as I got there, we started getting our clients ready for the events. I was in charge of doing makeup for gorgeous Sports Illustrated models, and it was such an amazing experience! First face I had the pleasure to work on was Haley Kali, followed by the brazilian beauty Anne de Paula. They needed to get ready to help the Sports Illustrated Editorial Team find and mentor their new models through their Open Casting in Miami Beach. The hotel was crowded with beautiful faces and vibrant energy.

I then ran (literally lol) at night to Planet Fashion Show at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. The event opened the night with the Antigua Collection and closed with the famous Roberto Cavalli — known for his namesake label and lavish prints. The evening was complimented with high-energy performances that kept the party going. American Idol Top 10 finalist Michelle Sussett performed Zedd & Marren Morris’ top Billboard #1 hit “The Middle” before the anticipated Roberto Cavalli show. It was a blast!

On Sunday (day 3), I had the pleasure of prepping Sports Illustrated models Chase Carter and Brenna Huckaby. This day really fed me with inspiration and motivation. In the evening, the red carpet of the SI Swimsuit and Paraiso runway show was so empowering!. Model and paralympic gold medal athlete Brenna Huckaby opened the runway walking down with a prosthetic leg  for the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit show at PARAISO, and then Mara Martin walked the runway while breastfeeding her five-month-old daughter. Likewise, plus-size models put the spotlight on swimsuits and lingerie for curvy women at a Miami Curves Week pop-up.

All in all, Brenna and Mara sent out a beautiful message to all women around the world, and I believe this has to be heard. It doesn’t matter who you are, what challenges you have to face or how you body and routine has changed due to motherhood or life changes. You are a woman and that makes you beautiful! Embrace your power, maximize your talents, use your voice and your actions to demonstrate that there should not be stereotypes for beauty.  BE YOU! And that will make you BEAUTIFUL! Bienvenidos/as de nuevo mis amores!! El fin de semana pasado tuve la oportunidad de participar en el Miami Swim Week 2018 como parte del staff de profesionales de Glamsquad. Fue una experiencia tan significativa para mí que quería compartir con ustedes no sólo acerca de trajes de baño y moda, sino también sobre cómo podemos cambiar la forma en que nos percibimos a nosotros mismos y a esta industria. ¡Quédate conmigo si quieres conocer más sobre mi experiencia!

El día 1 para mí comenzó el viernes 13 de Julio. Estábamos en el Green Room del W South Beach Hotel desde muy temprano y apenas llegué allí, comenzamos a preparar a nuestras clientes para los eventos. ¡Casi muero cuando conocí a quienes tenía que maquillar! Nada más y nada menos que a las espectaculares modelos de Sports Illustrated y fue una experiencia increíble! El primer rostro en el que tuve el placer de trabajar fue Haley Kali, seguida de la espectacular brasilera Anne de Paula. Ellas tenían que prepararse y ponerse bellas para ayudar al Equipo Editorial de Sports Illustrated a encontrar y guiar a sus nuevas modelos en el Casting Abierto que fue realizado ese día en Miami Beach. El hotel estaba lleno de rostros y cuerpos preciosos y una energía vibrante.

Luego en la noche salí corriendo (literalmente) al Planet Fashion Show en el Hotel Loews de Miami Beach. El evento abrió la noche con la Colección de Antigua y cerró con el infame Roberto Cavalli, conocido por sus estampados suntuosos. La noche estuvo llena de energía y presentaciones que mantuvieron el ambiente de fiesta. La finalista de American Idol Top 10, Michelle Sussett, interpretó a Zedd & Marren Morris como su primer éxito de Billboard “The Middle” antes del esperado show de Roberto Cavalli. ¡Me disfrute el show como no tienen idea!

El domingo (día 3), tuve el placer de preparar a los modelos de Sports Illustrated Chase Carter y Brenna Huckaby. Este día realmente me llenó de inspiración y motivación. Por la noche, la alfombra roja del desfile SI Swimsuit y Paraiso fue súper enriquecedor. La atleta medallista de oro modelo y paralímpica Brenna Huckaby abrió la pasarela del espectáculo de trajes de baño con su pierna prostética para el show de Sports Illustrated 2018 en PARAISO. Luego Mara Martin desfiló por la pasarela mientras amamantaba a su hija de cinco meses. También, modelos de talla grande mostraron el trabajo de talentosos diseñadores de trajes de baño y ropa interior para mujeres con curvas en Miami Curves Week (La Semana de las Curvas en Miami).

Para resumirles lo que considero es más importante que un fashion show y muchos eventos, Brenna y Mara enviaron un mensaje bellísimo a todas las mujeres del mundo y creo que esto debe ser escuchado. No importa quién seas, qué desafíos estás enfrentando o cómo tu cuerpo y rutina han cambiado debido a la maternidad o cualquier problema o cambios en tu vida. ¡Eres mujer y eso te hace hermosa! Acepta tu poder, maximiza tus talentos, usa tu voz y tus acciones para demostrar que no debe haber estereotipos de belleza. Sé TU! ¡Y eso te hará HERMOSA! Espero que este artículo les sirva de inspiración tanto como a mí me motivó ser parte de esta experiencia.
